Kokako and Puriri Bowl

This bowl was inspired by my visit to Tiritiri Matangi to observe the nesting Kokako. This New Zealand native has distinct blue wattles under its beak and strong legs. The male and female pair for life.

We spent a morning looking up into the canopy of many Puriri trees looking for these pairs. The Kokako strut about the tops of the canopy of the Puriri tree like monkeys might do in other parts of the world.
